The goal of the project was to create and collect useful and accurate information about via dell’Abbondanza that can be used for restoration, analyses of past deterioration, conservation management and academic study. The photomosaics were produced for baseline documentation of the current state of the structures. In addition, a number of publications were consulted for details about the names and function of the structures and historical resources were researched to locate information about the original excavations. The photomosaics were then compared with the data that had been identified and recorded in order to quantify changes that have occurred to the structures since their excavation. The results of these studies and analyses can be found in the section entitled Research.
